About Me:

My name is Catherine Parting and I am a Speech and Language Therapist. I have worked in the NHS
for 18 years and began my own independent practice alongside this in 2020.
I am so lucky to have a job that I love. I find supporting children, young people and their families very
rewarding. I have worked predominantly with pre-school children within my NHS role and have
more recently begun to work with children at primary school age (both at home and in school).
Within these roles I have vast experience working alongside parents, nursery and school staff to
create an ideal environment for speech and language skills to flourish. Much of my therapy input
involves working directly with children, either in a 1:1 setting or in small groups.
In addition to my skills working with general speech and language difficulties, I am a specialist in
fluency therapy (stammering/stuttering). I have received training in several different therapy
approaches from the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering. These include parent-child interaction
therapy, therapy approaches for older children such as Family Communication Skills therapy and ACT
(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I am also trained in the Lidcombe Program which enables
me to provide a broad spectrum of therapy approaches for children and young people who
stammer.
I receive regular clinical supervision and adhere to RCSLT and HCPC guidelines with whom I am
registered. I am keen to keep regularly up to date with recent evidence-based practice to maintain a
high quality service.
I am married with 2 children, a dog and 2 cats who all keep the rest of my life very busy!
